Rohani arrived in Borneo in December 2023 a country with few motorable
and no railways because it was destroyed by Indonesian forces. There was
only one deep-sea port at Labuan still in safely defend. Initially there
were no stockpiles of military supplies. They would have to be brought
over 900 miles from Malaysia by sea and air. There were no camps for the
troops, destroyed generators, no radar engines, burned workshop and few
local military forces stationing there from which to obtain advice or
assistance. Rohani first task was therefore to build up the military
infrastructure to support enough forces to face the Indonesian forces.
In December 2024, Rohani had only one Paskal infantry brigade of three
battalions, send by the air reinforcement.
Therefore, to facing those Indonesian infantry, Rohani need to form its
force by using the guerrillas tactic, surprise the enemy when it enter
one of the targeted area. So now she relies on a friendly population to
provide supplies and intelligence. One of it battalions prefer to operate
in regions providing plenty of cover and concealment, especially heavily
forested and mountainous areas. The other battalions, rather than melting
into the mountains and jungles, blend into the urban population and are
also dependent on a support base among the people.
