Description
-----------
Colored Death Messages is a mutator or server actor which displays team-colored
player names in death messages.
Installation
------------
Simply extract the .U and .UPL files in the ZIP file to your UT2004\System
directory. The .U.UZ2 file is supposed to be uploaded to a redirect server if
you are running a UT2004 server with redirected downloads enabled. If you want
to host multiplayer games with colored death messages you should either add
to the [Engine.GameEngine] section of your UT2004.ini or add the Colored Death
Messages mutator to the list of mutators loaded on server start by adding
to the server's startup commandline. Using the mutator has the advantage of
being able to turn it off with a map switch, but it will make your server
non-standard. The server actor will not make a standard server non-standard,
but if you want to disable it you will have to manually edit the INI file and
restart the server.
If your server is still running UT2004 v3186 you also have to add
ServerPackages=ColoredDeathMessages
to the [Engine.GameEngine] section of your UT2004.ini, otherwise clients won't
see any death messages. It's also a good idea to add this line if you want to
record demos.
Potential Problems
------------------
* Colored Death Messages strips color codes from player names and death mesages
and adds its own color codes. This may cause weird characters to be displayed
if mods like chat log or IRC reporter bots try to use the death message
directly without removing the color codes first.
* ColoredDeathMessages.u is flagged as client-optional, so it is not required
for demo playback or for connecting to a server running the mod.
However, if the player doesn't have file, he will not be able to see *any*
death messages.
* Invasion and other gametypes with a custom death message class are not
supported.
