Map Description:
I got inspiration from the Boiler-Room in the Nightmare on ElmStreet movies, where Freddy Krueger used to work before he died and became a dream
dream demon. I really like the set. All the pipes, boilers and wires coming from all directions. Sadly I could not make the map all the
way I wanned it because it wouldn't run on to many computers because of all the details it would force me to use.
I've put ALOT of work and time on this map (ask my girlfirend). But even thou I was very close to not release this map because of the high detail.
I think you will need a pretty good CPU to run this map smoothly (1,8 or 2,0 Ghz or better) on high detail. I am not sure about the graphic
card, but I can guess a GeForce Ti 3 would do or a similar card with the same specs.
If you run the map on lower detail you will do fine with a 1,4 GHz CPU, but you will not see the swinging chains and the fans will not move.
This map have been tested on:
Computer #1
OS: WindowsXP Pro
CPU: P4 1,4GHz
Graphic Card: GeForce Ti 4400 128MB
RAM: 512MB Dual RAMbus
Result with highest detail setting: Slow
Result with a bit lower detail settings: Better
Result with higest detail setting: Greate
Result with a bit lower detail settings: Awsome
Small Known Issues:
-> The bots will not go along the path where the Redeemer is. I took it away because they had some weird love of jumping in to the electrical
field.
-> If you have set the detail settings to high, and shoot down the supporters above the box area, the bots may get a little stuck when they run
in to the fallen supporters when they are on the ground.
-> The detail of this map is very high. If you set the detail setting to a lower set, you will not see the chains swing, the rotating fans
or the falling supporters. I was forced to turn this off when it comes to ppl with lower graph settings
-> If you run UT2004 with graphic settings all set to highest settings with a CPU lower then 1,8 GHz, it might run a little slow. Because all the
dynamic objects in the map eats CPU power pretty good.
Installation:
Unzip the file DM-BoilerRoom.ut2 into your UT2004\maps directory,
Please keep this readme with the map file when distributing it with a CD or with some other media. Even if you copy it
over to a friends computer or so. =)
Enjoy!
