I cleaned it up...
The server doesn't really mind these (mass)traceroutes, but the core internet routers do. That why some of them doesn't respond to your pings and traceroutes, it's simply disabled, so the router can do his job - routing packages from A to B. Also some serverproviders block those "ICMP"-Packages, which are only used for pinging etc. That way the attacker can't see if there is a running machine behind that ip.
Ofcourse, if you get enough machines and bandwidth, these Pings/Traceroutes can harm your server/bandwidth. But you need too many of them. (Introducing: The botnet...)
